Dr. Herman Ellis is a visionary in the telehealth field, bringing over 40 years of clinical and administrative distinguished expertise. Dr.Ellis is our practice visionary and Medical Director. Well known for his compassionate care, he has dedicated his career to reshaping how patients experience healthcare. With multiple certifications in primary and preventive medicine, Dr. Ellis is a guiding force for patients navigating the complexities of chronic conditions and substance use disorders. His leadership stems from a genuine desire to make healthcare more accessible and holistic. Dedicated to listening and understanding each patient's unique journey, he believes in empowering them with knowledge and choices. Dr. Ellis continues to innovate and inspire, ensuring that every patient feels seen, heard, and cared for in a meaningful way.

Dr. Ellis left his native Louisiana for New York City in the 7th grade. He is presently practicing preventive addiction medicine and treatment in addition to primacare with an emphasis on nutrition and alternative health at the Choice Recovery Clinics in Delaware and Maryland. Dr. Ellis also provides telehealth health education services. He continues to serve as an expert in population infectious diseases. Dr. Ellis is board certified in addiction medicine, public health, and general preventive medicine. He was elected and served two terms with the Board of the American College of Preventive Medicine (ACPM) representing board certified public health physicians in the United States and Canada.

He is a former New Jersey State Epidemiologist and Assistant Commissioner of Health and Senior Services; and the former Chief of Epidemiology for the United States Navy's Atlantic Fleet. Dr. Ellis is the founding chair and associate professor of the Department of Occupational and Preventive Medicine at Meharry Medical College, Nashville. He served 10+ years as an assistant professor with the Department of Environmental Sciences at the Columbia University School of Public Health.

Dr. Ellis served as Clinical Division Director of the Federal Occupational Health, a division within the US Department of Health and Human Services. The division had a budget of $115 Million with over 1500 employees serving more than one million federal employees from more than 250 federal agencies including the Internal Revenue Service and the Secret Service.

Dr. Ellis is a graduate of the Boston University School of Medicine and the University of Michigan School of Public Health.inguished experience.
